Layered black and charcoal waves roll across this dramatic Chiyogami paper, traced with fine gold-toned lines and crowned by crisp white foam with touches of pale blue. The closely repeated design creates a rich sense of movement while the restrained palette gives it an elegant, almost nocturnal character. Hand-printed using a traditional silk-screen process, this decorative Japanese paper is especially striking for bookbinding, journal covers, keepsake boxes, endpapers, collage, framing, card details, and paper arts that call for depth, rhythm, and a refined metallic note.

From the Atelier: We were drawn to the quiet drama of this pattern: dark, orderly currents interrupted by luminous crests of foam. The fine gold-toned lines reveal themselves gradually, rewarding a closer look and giving the paper unusual depth. Across a journal cover, the waves feel expansive and atmospheric; used in smaller pieces, each crest becomes a beautifully composed detail. It is a particularly elegant choice for work meant to feel timeless, contemplative, and carefully made.
