Overlapping Japanese paper parasols form a lively mosaic across this richly patterned Chiyogami paper. Deep indigo, navy, slate blue, soft cream, and muted olive-gold details create rhythm and movement, while the varied spokes and segmented canopies reward a closer look. Hand-printed using a traditional silk-screen process, this decorative paper is especially well suited to bookbinding, journal covers, keepsake boxes, endpapers, collage, framing, card details, and other paper arts that benefit from a distinctive geometric pattern.
From the Atelier: We selected this pattern for the way it balances order and exuberance. Each traditional parasol - or wagasa - is built from precise radiating lines, yet the overlapping arrangement feels wonderfully animated. The layered indigo palette gives the paper depth without overwhelming its intricate geometry, making it especially handsome for journals, boxes, and handmade books. Smaller sections reveal their own miniature compositions, allowing every cut piece to feel considered and unique.
