A sweeping flock of white cranes crosses a vivid vermilion ground patterned with fine, curling wave lines. Black accents define the birds' slender necks and legs, while warm gold-toned details add rhythm and luminosity to the design. Hand-printed in Japan using a traditional silk-screen process, this Chiyogami paper has a dramatic yet graceful presence that works beautifully for bookbinding, journal covers, keepsake boxes, decorative endpapers, collage, framing, origami, card details, and distinctive gift wrapping. Because the crane motifs travel in several directions, even smaller cut pieces retain movement and visual interest.

From the Atelier: We selected this paper for the remarkable contrast between its luminous white cranes and saturated vermilion ground. The repeated birds create a feeling of movement across the sheet, while the flowing line work beneath them gives the pattern depth without making it feel heavy. It is especially striking when wrapped around a journal or keepsake box, where the design can continue across an edge and reveal new groupings of cranes with every turn.
